Girl's Room: Organization

We are having another baby and we are so excited! We have decided that we want our girls to share a room which means that we have to do some reorganizing. The room isn't very big and so we are having to be very intentional about what we put in there and where.

We plan to add a bunkbed at some point to the room but our daughter is still rolling out of bed so we are having to be strategic about how we transition her to being able to sleep on the top bunk of the bed. Her safety comes first.

I have their dresser set up so that our oldest has a drawer for her pants and pajamas and another drawer for her socks, swimsuits and underwear. In another drawer we have it set up with all of the technical things we like to use for our babies such as the owlet sock and a baby monitor. The bottom drawer holds all of the diaper changing things and the drawer above that will hold all of the baby onesies and pajamas. My biggest challenge when organizing a room is making sure that it is functional in the way that is best with how we live and this is what I have found will work best for us.

I try to keep our home clutter free and am very selective about the toys that I keep in our kids room. I want it to be a place where they relax and can fall asleep in easily. I added a cupboard to the room to act as a nightstand while also storing some of the dress up clothes and the other few toys that we keep in her room. I made sure to get a cupboard that we can close and not see into so that it wasn't a distraction when it was time to go to sleep.

I've also created a seating nook to rock my babies to sleep. It doesn't get used as much as it used to but I will start to use it again when our next baby is born. It was a part of our nap time routine with my first baby and I loved the time we spent bonding in this chair.

In the closet, I have stored the things that I don't want my oldest daughter to get into without help. This is also where I have baby items stored that we don't use very often or are bigger items that we don't want displayed in the bedroom. All of the baby clothes will go on the top rack and all of my toddler's clothes will go on the bottom rack. She is becoming more and more independent and is starting to like to dress herself. This way she can reach the clothes that she wants to wear while leaving alone all of the baby clothes.

I am sure as time goes on and we live in the space with two kids a bit more we will make some adjustments. For now, this is perfect for us.
